Wellington Regional Leadership Committee

Our region is growing and so are the challenges and opportunities we face across council boundaries. Housing, transport, infrastructure, resilience, climate change, and economic development are all deeply connected. No single council or agency can tackle them alone.

That’s why we’ve partnered as councils, iwi and central government to work together on the big picture. Through this committee, we’re focusing on coordinated regional planning and investment to support thriving communities, strong local economies, and a resilient, low-emissions future.

We’re responsible for shaping long-term strategies and supporting delivery in two key areas:

• Regional growth – planning for where and how we grow
• Regional economic development – creating the conditions for investment, innovation and resilience

By aligning efforts across the region and looking at the whole system, we’re aiming to make smarter decisions that deliver better outcomes for today and for generations to come.
